Policy and Research
My name is Vlada Shevelkova. Currently, I am a completing my third year at University College London, studying BSc Pharmacology. Learning about different medicines and treatments in my degree has sparked my interest in the Public Health and Policy sector. I grew up in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, immigrating to the UK when I was 10 years old. Seeing the difference in the quality of healthcare between the UK and Uzbekistan has motivated me to take part in projects, like the ones at AHO, which aim to improve health services . One of my personal goals is to increase accessibility of medical treatments globally, ensuring that everyone can receive the necessary care, when they need it. Alongside my role at the African Health Organisation, I volunteer with FoodCycle and AgeUK. Next year, I hope to study Public Health at master’s level, to expand my understanding of the sector.
