Senior Grants Manager
Lazenya is a UK based global health specialist with over 12 years’ experience in global health.
She currently serves as the Senior Business Development and Strategy Consultant at AHO, leading grant management processes and providing technical assistance in executing the organisation’s five year strategy.
Her speciality areas are in Programme Management, Grant Management and Strategic Planning across a variety of public health areas including Neglected Tropical Diseases, Non Communicable Diseases, Maternal Adolescent and Child Health. She has country level experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, Middle East, South and South East Asia.
Lazenya most recently served as Deputy Project Director for the UK INGO Sightsavers International setting up and overseeing a £4 million trachoma elimination project across seven countries in West Africa. Lazenya firmly believes Health System Strengthening and building local capacity should be the cornerstone of any global health project and she consistently advocates for local ownership of projects – right the way from inception to implementation and evaluation. She also has a keen interest in exploring intersectionality in global health to address health inqualities.
Lazenya recently transitioned to working with the UK National Health Service as a Senior Strategy Manager in the national cancer programme. Her prior expertise driving projects forward under challenging circumstances has set her in good stead to undertake the task at hand and improve cancer diagnosis, treatment and survival rates across England during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
